Boris Johnson is known for frequently indulging in sesquipedalian turns of phrase that tend to be as flowery as his jogging shorts.
But the former foreign secretary, known for his love of long words, was decidedly more blunt in his scathing resignation letter to Theresa May which has plunged the Government into crisis over Brexit.
Mr Johnson told Mrs May the Brexit “dream is dying, suffocated by self-doubt”, claiming Britain is heading “for the status of a colony” over her soft Brexit proposal.
