In upset, Andrew Gillum wins Democratic nomination to face Trump-backed Ron DeSantis in Florida governor race

Florida voters delivered a major upset in the Democratic gubernatorial race Tuesday night, sending Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum on to November’s general election ballot, where he will face Republican Rep. Ron DeSantis.

“Whoever thought this was possible?” Gillum asked the crowd of supporters at his victory party in Tallahassee amid chants of his campaign slogan, “Bring it home.”
