PM Modi, South Korean President inaugurate Samsung’s largest mobile phone factory in Noida
Furthering India’s ‘Act East Policy’, India and South Korea are engaging to enhance trade and investment and take forward the “Special Strategic Partnership” with the visit of South Korean President Moon Jae-in to India. On Monday, both leaders inaugurated a 35-acre Samsung Electronics expanded facility in Noida Sector 81, which is touted to be the world’s largest mobile phone production unit in terms of a number of devices rolled out every month.
In June last year, the South Korean giant announced a Rs 4,915 crore investment to expand the Noida plant and, after a year, the new facility is ready to double production.
The company is currently making 67 million smartphones in India and with the new plant being functional, it is expected to manufacture nearly 120 million mobile phones.
