Well, you are out of you if you, like many others, use KickassTorrents website for downloading your favorite movies and TV shows. The alleged owner of the site, Artem Vaulin, 30, was arrested on 20 July, Wednesday in Ukraine on a number of charges, including conspiracy to commit money laundering and two counts of conspiracy to commit copyright infringement. A complaint was filed against him in US District Court in Chicago. According to the complaint, the copyright material on the site is valued at over $1 billion.

Artem Vaulin is considered to be the person who founded the website in 2008 and he was involved in all the major operations and finances of the website. Apparently, the US is looking forward to extradite Vaulin. Meanwhile, a federal court in Chicago has ordered to seize the domain and the website has been taken offline.

According to the criminal complaint, the website is 69 th most frequently visited website on the internet with over 50 million unique hits in a month.

“In an effort to evade law enforcement, Vaulin allegedly relied on servers located in countries around the world and moved his domains due to repeated seizures and civil lawsuits. His arrest in Poland, however, demonstrates again that cybercriminals can run, but they cannot hide from justice.” – Assistant Attorney General Leslie Caldwell
